Licensing LiveWire

LiveWire will not run without some form of licensing installed. There are 3 types of licensing currently available:

  • Trial Licenses
  • Single User Licenses (SUL) - Local
  • Multi User Licenses (MUL) - Network

Unlicensed versions of LiveWire will start up with the following dialog:

Installing the Licenses

Trial License Installation

  1. Start LiveWire

  2. Press the <Generate> button to generate a trial license request file.

The following “Save As” dialog box will pop up giving you the option of where to save the file.

You may save the file anywhere, for this demonstration we will save it to the A: drive.

You must now exit LiveWire and go to step 3.

  3. Send the “request.txt” file to licensing@zsystems.ca

The licensing “request.txt” file will be processed and a “trial.txt” file will be send back to you.

For this demonstration we will save this file to the A: drive

  4. From the License Manager dialog, under Install Trial License, press the open folder icon to search for the “trial.txt” file sent to you by Z Systems.

Find where you have saved the "trial.txt" file and select it. The input field should now indicate where you have located the "trial.txt" file.

  5. Press the <Install>button

The following “confirmation” dialog will appear.

  6. Now, restart LiveWire. The program will start up and you can begin using LiveWire.

  7. Now, restart LiveWire. The program will start up and you can begin using LiveWire.

Running LiveWire with a Network License

A License is not required on a remote computer running LiveWire. LiveWire will acquire permission to run from a centralized Licensing computer as long as the following parameter is set. This does not apply to Trial Licenses, only for Single and Multi User Licenses.

  1. Point LiveWire to the License Manager Host computer and port #.

Note 1: This should be <localhost 2053> if the License Manager is on this computer.

Note 2: If the License Manager is on machine XXX then this should be <XXX 2053>.
