The
Manitoba HVDC Research Centre
The Manitoba HVDC Research Centre provides developmental and
analytical research for electric power utilities, government
agencies and other research organizations. The objectives of the
centre are to: make a significant contribution to the
development of knowledge of HVDC; promote Manitoba and Canada as
a world centre for HVDC Technology; assist Canadian industry in
development of HVDC equipment and apparatus; through
international promotion, attract off-shore organizations to the
services available from the Centre and Canada in HVDC related
fields; and sponsor and collaborate with others in sponsoring
HVDC technical seminars and conferences.

APT
Power Technologies
APT
Power Technologies designs and manufactures leading-edge
protection, monitoring and control electronics, instrumentation
products and solutions for the global electrical power utilities
market. These products include digital signal processor (DSP)
and microcomputer based relays for protection and control of
electrical systems, multi-channel recorders for monitoring
electrical systems, and data management system software for
analysis and optimization of electrical systems.

NxtPhase
NxtPhase
is the culmination of three significant areas of technical
innovation in power technology, all focused on improving
reliability of the power system: fiber optic measurement of
current, fiber optic measurement of voltage, and digital
protection equipment. Natural synergies and a shared vision have
brought NxtPhase together - an enterprise that combines the
speed, entrepreneurship, and core technical expertise of a
successful hi-tech start-up, with the experience and
demonstrated success of a Fortune 500 company.

RTDS
Technologies Inc.
RTDS Technologies Inc. provides power systems simulation
technology for fast, reliable, accurate, and cost effective
study of power systems with complex High Voltage Alternating
Current (HVAC) and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) networks.
Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDSŪ) technology replaces the
previous generation of network analyzers which were based on
analog technology. The RTDS Simulator was developed without
precedence - created specifically for real time power system
simulation, utilizing advanced custom hardware and software
technologies.

The
University of Manitoba
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
